Julian Lanier and Daniel Presley are special needs young adults who wanted to help their Special Olympics team, Bay Area Heat, raise funds. Julian is Autism spectrum and Daniel has Down’s syndrome. Both young men have been taking pottery lessons with Mr. Dennis Les Valley at Alvin Community College for a couple of years now and have decided to sell some of their pottery to help out their team.

The folks at Silver Bee Boutique have stepped up by hosting the pottery fundraiser until the end of October. The Silver Bee is located at 180 South Friendswood Drive (FM 518) in Friendswood. All profit goes to Bay Area Heat to help pay for facility fees, uniforms, equipment, etc. for their special needs athletes.

Each young man has a distinctive style. Julian favors larger one color bowls, although a few have a splash of another color. Daniel favors making smaller bowls and plates with a riot of color and fanciful patterns. Both these artists make bowls good for guacamole, eggs, butter, coffee fixings. If you are a gardener the bowls could be used for plants, bird baths, or to add a pop of color. They make beautiful and sturdy pet bowls as well. Really the possibilities are endless. The pottery will be available until the end of October, all profit supports a Special Olympics team, and the pottery is fun and useful making it a win-win for everyone!
