Patsy Drake Giesecke, 82, of Alvin, TX, passed away on Saturday, September 24, 2016 with her children at her side in Angleton, TX. She was born on October 10, 1933 in Huntsville, AL to Peyton Augustus Drake and Neva Nunn Drake.
After graduation from high school, Patsy traveled to Nashville, TN to attend Peabody College (now part of Vanderbilt University). After her freshman year she returned to Huntsville, where she worked at the U.S. Army Redstone Arsenal. It was there that she met, on a blind date, a tall, handsome lieutenant from Texas. After a few short years they were married, and she left her beloved Huntsville to forge a new life in Texas.
Patsy’s interests included gardening and reading, but the main focus throughout her life was her devotion to family, and especially her grandchildren. She checked in on them daily, and was diligent in making sure she didn’t miss any of their activities, from ballet recitals to ball games.
Patsy strove to be a true Southern lady all her life, and she was also a proud member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
Patsy was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years Robert Lee Giesecke; her parents; brothers, James D. Drake and Peyton W. Drake; brothers-in-law, Fred Sanders and Paul Davis; sisters-in-law, Paula Kezirian Drake and Jean Reeves Drake; nephews, Peter Drake and Chalmers Neely.
She is survived by son Robert Peyton Giesecke; daughter Virginia Giesecke Criswell; son-in-law Jeremiah Criswell; grandson Bryce Criswell; granddaughter Holly Criswell; sisters, Mary Hendricks and Margie Davis; and numerous cherished nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the wonderful caregivers at Country Village Care in Angleton and the compassionate hospice nurses with A*Med Community Hospice.
