Vince Lomdardi once said, “ The measure of who we are is what we do with what we have.”
The City of Manvel is truly a city on the rise. We have our ups and downs, but Jean Bruyere said, “Out of difficulties grow miracles.”
Many opportunities have come knocking on our door. It is up to us to set out the welcome mat and begin new journeys. We are visiting with Krogers and HEB for potential sites. Stripes has opened and has flooded our area with new business opportunities. Manvel Seafood and Brooke Honore are both planning to expand and broaden their horizons with new restaurant plans after the first of the year. Both have resumes for fantastic food. We are looking forward to this. Big Horn Bar-B-Q is also checking out locations here. We wanted businesses to come and they are now at our door.
Homes are bursting at the seams. Rodeo Palms has almost 1,200. Lakeland has 275. Sedona Lakes has 560. Pomona has 97 and growing daily. There are two more on the horizon: Blue Water Lakes at 329 and Newport Lakes Estates at 199.
William Arthur Ward said, “The pessimist complains about the wind; the optimist expects it to change; the realist adjusts the sails.” We are off and heading into the wind. Manvel Town Center and Presidio at Manvel are still reassessing their plans and planning for our future growth. Heaven Park of 21 acres is almost a reality for our city. What a glorious opportunity for our citizens to have a park in our area. There will be a jogging trail around the lake and the lake will be stocked with fish. The county will be assisting us with other amenities.
Last and certainly not least… there are not enough words to express how proud we are of our Manvel Maverick Football Team and their fantastic coach for their outstanding job in making Manvel Proud!
Mayor Delores Martin
