Blue Santa Shootout Toy Drive, softball event planned for Nov. 19

Toys and softball go together for the Blue Santa Shootout Toy Drive planned for Nov. 19 at 9 a.m. in Schulz Sportspark in Friendswood.

The shootout will have two divisions: Adult Co-ed and Men’s “D” divisions.

Fees are $25 per entry, $15 per game for umpires and one new toy per person. Teams can choose to provide one bicycle for the team’s toy instead of members individually providing them.

An HR Derby will be in place for $10 per participant. Sign ups must take place before noon on the day of the tournament.

Shirts will be given as tournament prizes for both first and second places.

ASA rules will govern play. Men will hit the 12” ball, core 52, 300 lbs. compression, while women will hit 11” ball, core 44 and 375 lbs. compression or less. Any bat that is not on the banned ball list of ASA, USSSA or NSA may be used.

The event is sponsored by Friendswood Parks and Recreation Department.

Shulz Sportspark is located at 2910 W. Parkwood.
