City receives award of excellence for financial reporting

The City of Friendswood has received the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for fiscal year 2014-2015. The award was presented at the regular meeting of City Council Nov. 7 at City Hall.

The award was given by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) for its comprehensive annual financial report (CAFR).

The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.

The award was presented to Cindy Edge, Director of Administrative Services at Friendswood for her responsibilities in preparing the award winning CAFR.

The CAFR has been judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program.

The GFOZ is a nonprofit professional association serving approximately 17,500 government finance professionals.
