A forecast of 40,000 lbs of snow for Friendswood is happening on a hill in Stevenson Park.
It’s all part of this year’s Santa in the Park Saturday, Dec. 10 from 3 – 8 p.m. The annual holiday event is sponsored by HomeTown Bank of Friendswood, Keep Friendswood Beautiful and the City of Friendswood.
The annual event in its ninth year is themed Home for the Holidays and offers holiday fun for all ages. Admission is free.
Photos with Santa and Mrs. Claus begins at 3 p.m.
Amusement rides are set up in the park and wristbands are needed for children ages three and up for the mechanical bull, bungee trampoline, snow hill slide, face painting, petting zoo and other amusement rides. Wristbands the day of the event are $10 for unlimited rides.
Discounted $5 wristbands are available if new unwrapped toys are donated to Blue Santa before Dec. 10. Toys can be donated at the Parks and Recreation office in Friendswood City Hall between Nov. 28 and Dec. 9 to get the $5 discount for Santa in the Park rides.
The Holiday Market will offer shoppers a wide array of items, perfectly timed for Christmas giving. Food and beverages will also be available.
Concert in the Park will offer musical entertainment.
Friendswood’s Christmas Parade will be from 6 – 7 p.m. and the city tree lighting will follow at 7:30 p.m. A synchronized fireworks show will follow the lighting with holiday music accompaniment.
