What does it take to be a volunteer firefighter? It takes you; someone who cares for others and their community. Volunteers come from all types of backgrounds. They are respected and admired by many in the community.
It’s simple, you must be at least 18 years of age and have no criminal warrants or felonies. You would need to be in good physical health. It is important to be dedicated and have transportation, as you will be required to attend twenty-five percent of calls and forty percent of all meetings.
The meetings are held at 7 p.m. every Tuesday in Manvel. There is a pension program for those that serve for a set number of years. Specifics can be obtained simply by contacting the Manvel Fire Dept. at 281-692-0279.
Real heroes aren’t in the movies; they are whom the movie is made about.
