City will not re-schedule Christmas Parade

The threat of bad weather forced parades and festivals all over Texas to be postponed Saturday, including Pearland’s parade, which city officials say won’t be rescheduled.
The next city-sponsored event is Winterfest, set Jan. 28, Pearland officials announced along with the cancellation.

Some lighted parades affected by the forecast were postponed until Saturday, Dec. 10. The Pasadena lighted parade is among these, rescheduled to 7 p.m. this Saturday.

Friendswood’s lighted parade wasn’t scheduled until this Saturday, Dec. 10. The Kemah Lighted Boat Parade is 6:30 p.m. this Saturday.

The forecast for the coming weekend calls for cloudy skies and a 20 percent chance of rain, with a high of 66 and low of 59 degrees.

Also on Saturday is Keep Pearland Beautiful’s Tour de Lites bike and hay ride through the lights of the Green Tee subdivision. Registration and a bike decorating contest open at 6 p.m., and the ride begins at 7 p.m. at Independence Park.
