Before you buy a live Christmas tree this year think about how you want to dispose of it. The environmentally responsible way is to keep the tree out of the landfill. BUT in order to recycle your tree you must avoid flocking and tinsel of any type.
So, when you head out to find that perfect live Christmas tree for your house don’t purchase a flocked tree and don’t add flocking or tinsel to your Christmas tree at home. After Christmas remove your tree from the stand, remove all tinsel (if you added any), lights and ornaments and recycle your tree.
Trees for the Dunes Project will be accepted at the Brazoria County Precinct 2 Work Yard 7315 Corporate Dr, Manvel, TX during the yards operating hours, Monday-Thursday 7:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.
This work yard is approximately 2 miles east of the SH288 and SH6 intersection. It is behind the Brazoria County Service Center (turn onto Corporate drive and pass the service center building). There is a cable link fence surrounding the work yard, with a gate that is unlocked during operating hours.
The Annual Dunes Day project is Jan. 21, 2017. Volunteers meet at Quintana and Surfside Beaches to rebuild, restore, and strengthen our dunes by planting grasses and staking trees to the dunes. For more information, contact James at 979-864-1541 (Surfside) or Patty at 979-233-1461 (Quintana).
