Four members of the Friendswood ISD School Board were sworn in during the regular meeting of the Board Dec. 11.

Associate Judge of Friendswood Richard Flake presided at the event.

Board members taking oath included returning Board members Matt Robinson in Position 2, Rebecca Hillenburg in Position 3, Tony Hopkins in Position 4 and new member Laura Seifert in Position 1.

All four ran unopposed for their positions.

Seifert fills the position previously held by Mike Shaw who served from 1998 and retired in Spring 2016. Her new term expires in 2020.

Seifert graduated from Denton High School, studied at Texas A&M University and is the founder of Yes Ministries, a discipleship ministry in Houston.

“Our family is incredibly blessed to live in such a wonderful community, with great people, great schools and a long history of raising children who excel not only in academics and activities but also in character,” said Seifert. “As a mother of young children, I want to see this history continue.”

Seifert and her husband, Jason have two children and live in Friendswood.
