Larry Wayne Grimes, 80, of Alvin, TX passed away on Monday, January 2, 2017. He was born November 16, 1936 to Clovis L. Grimes and Ruth E. Tiffany Grimes in Tomahawk, WI. He attended Merrill High School.

Larry served in the Army in Japan (1954-1955) and Korea (1956). He married November 14, 1959 and recently celebrated his 57th wedding anniversary with his wife Marie. Skilled in construction and machinery, Larry started and ran several businesses, including Larry Grimes Interests, Inc., where he enjoyed fabricating clamps to seal chemical and process leaks in the petrochemical, refinery, electrical, paper, shipping and food service industries. He also started the Alvin Builder’s Association. When he retired, he spent time traveling in Texas and Wisconsin, as well as reading, hunting, fishing, woodworking, and creating beautiful keepsakes. Larry was also a 3rd degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus – Council 6403 and generously donated to multiple charities and causes. He will be greatly missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son Brian Grimes and brother Carl Grimes.

Larry is survived by his wife, Marie Grimes; children, Bernie Grimes and wife Diana, Bruce Grimes and wife Theresa and Christie Grimes Topping and husband Brian; 6 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind numerous cousins, nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and cherished friends.

Friends are cordially invited to the visitation with the family on Friday, January 6, 2017 from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. with the rosary led by Allen Stanton to begin at 6:00 P.M. at the Jeter Memorial Funeral Home Chapel, 311 N. Friendswood Dr., Friendswood, TX 77546 (281) 992-7200.

A Funeral Mass offered by Father Martin Nelson will be held on Saturday, January 7, 2017 at 10:00 A.M. at the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 110 E. South St., Alvin, TX 77511. Interment will follow at the South Park Cemetery in Pearland, TX.

Pallbearers include Robert Delancy, Kenny Evans, Paul Hickman, Charles Orsak, Craig Pace and David Standard.
