Election applications are being accepted beginning Jan. 18 through Feb. 17 for Mayor and two city council positions. The elections will be decided in May; however, in order to be on the ballot one must complete an application packet and turn it in before the deadline of Feb. 17.

Place 3, held by John Cox, currently serves as Mayor Pro-tem and Place 5, held by Larry Akery, are the two council member seats up for election this year. It is unclear at this time if either will run for reelection.

If you are interested in serving your community, you may file an application for a place on the ballot beginning this Wednesday. An election packet can be obtained from the city secretary at Manvel City Hall or it can be down loaded from the city’s website.at http://www.cityofmanvel.com.

Mayor and Council members are elected at large positions and hold their office for three years.
