“Les Misérables,” Friendswo-od High School’s 49th Annual Musical, will open Jan. 27-29 in the Myrlene Kennedy Auditorium at the campus. Friday and Saturday night the production begins at 7 p.m. and on Jan. 29, the matinee is at 2:30 p.m.
Tickets are $10 per person and may be purchased Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at FHS visitor’s desk or before each performance. Only cash and checks are accepted.
The musical will continue Feb. 3-5 with 7 p.m. performances and a matinee on Sunday at 2:30 p.m.
“Les Miserables” is Victor Hugo’s epic tale of broken dreams, passion and redemption set against a nation in the throes of a revolution.
Winner of over 100 international awards and seen by more than 65 million people worldwide, “Les Misérables” is an epic and uplifting story about the survival of the human spirit.
The FHS production has been adapted for high school performers. “Les Misérables” School Edition features the full production’s memorable scores and the most memorable characters.
“Epic, grand, and uplifting, Les Misérables School Edition packs an emotional wallop that has thrilled audiences all over the world. The sung-through piece is ideal for a cast of exceptional singers and overflows with melodies that are already standards,” Director Kathy Powdrell said. “This author-approved edition has been abridged to a running time of just over two hours, while carefully maintaining the integrity of one of the greatest musicals ever written.”
The directors involved in the musical are Director Kathy Powdrell, Musical Director Janwin Overstreet-Goode, Pit Band Orchestra Director Julio Sanchez, Set construction Cale Borne, Technical Supervisor Amy Thornton, Choreography Alyssa Falcone Goza, Web Design and Program Jane Ann Quevedo, Ticket coordinator Pepper Smith and Assistants to the Directors Michael Tyer and Kate Gallagher.
The cast members are Alex Rudd as Jean Valjean, Dante Marcuccio as Inspector Javert, Max Morgan as Marius, Katie Sharp as Cosette, Emily Mesa as Eponine, Maddie Pertuis as Fantine, Cade Tucker as Thenardier, Lauren Podlewski as Madam Thenardier. The technical theatre students are led by Meredith Fraga and Joseph LeBlanc.
This show is rated PG.
All seating is open. The doors will open 30 minutes before each performance. Reservations are not available.
FHS is located at 702 Greenbriar in Friendswood.
