When Friendswood High School graduate Paul Oddo comes home to Texas, he is usually working during the visit.

Oddo is a stand-up comedian, does voice overs and works in custom woodworking. But it’s the comedy that brings him home.

Oddo, 1998 “12 year” graduate in Friendswood, lives in New York and has recently published a book, “Nothing Too Fancy.” He visited Friendswood recently to not only see his parents, Joseph and Paula Oddo, but to also promote the book and do a few stand up shows.

He held a book signing and reading at Stefano’s restaurant in Friendswood. The book is a collection of comedic short stories, illustrations and jokes.

Oddo also performed four shows at the Houston Joke Joint Comedy Showcase on Fuqua and a show at Avant Garden on Westheimer Rd.

Oddo has appeared at many comedy festivals throughout the country including SXSW, The Boston Comedy Festival and Bridgetown Comedy Festival.

He has also performed on TV in FOX’s Red Eye, Gotham Comedy Live and The David Letterman Show.

Currently, he is in Austin performing at Spider House and Cap City on the show Punch before he returns to New York.

“These are all really great shows and I’m very excited and thankful to be a part of them. Even when I am not on them these shows and locations are fantastic and you should check them out,” Oddo said. “I’m also happy to be in Texas, just in general. I’ve lived in NYC for just about 10 years now, but Texas is my home.”

His book can be purchased at his website at www.PaulOddo.com. The book comes with a copy of his comedy album, “Lost in Thought.”
