Lake Friendswood officially opened Feb. 6. The park is off Davis Prairie Lane in the West Ranch Subdivision in Friendswood.
Its hours are dawn to dusk each day.
As a new park, the area offers many amenities for Friendswood residents.
It is surrounded by a one-mile concrete path and boardwalk. There are benches, picnic tables, and exercise equipment along the way.
There are two floating piers with a kayak launch attached to one of the piers.
Fishing is encouraged off the piers or from the shore and fishermen are reminded to have proper licensing for the sport.
Swimming and gas-powered engines are prohibited in the park.
Temporary restrooms are in place. A permanent restroom building along with a pavilion will be built during the summer in partnership with West Ranch.
To access Lake Friendswood from South Friendswood Drive (FM 518), take West Blvd. one mile to Davis Prairie Lane, then left to the park entrance.
The development of Lake Friendswood as a park was voted on and approved by Friendswood voters in 2013.
