Going above and beyond on his job brought David Blacksher, the Streets and Drainage Superintendent in the Public Works Department, the Five Star Spirit Award from the City of Friendswood at the February meeting of the City Council.

Blacksher was nominated for the award from a resident in Polly Ranch subdivision in Friendswood. The Public Works crew with Blacksher had completed some work there and the resident complimented all the crew but gave special attention to Blacksher and his work.

“He worked along with the crew and would frequently continue working for several hours after the crew left to keep the project on schedule and the residents informed. It makes us proud as Friendswood residents to know the city has such capable, courteous, and industrious employees in the Public Works Department,” the resident wrote.

The Five Star Award is given to someone who displays the following characteristics: courteous, reliable, professional and enthusiastic. Four times each year the City of Friendswood awards the Five Star Spirit Award to a deserving City employee.

Blacksher joined the City of Friendswood in February 2006.
