With Spring in the air, Heritage Gardeners in Friendswood are preparing for their upcoming 51st Through the Garden Gate Spring Garden tour and Juried Flower Show April 29-30.

At this time, Friendswood area yards are needed for the garden tour.

Each year the Heritage Gardeners host a tour of several yards in Friendswood. The hostesses allow ticketed guests to see the landscaping work they have accomplished or had created at their homes.

The tour is popular and much anticipated each year in spring.

Craft vendors are also needed for the outdoor bazaar held during the tour dates at the Marie Workman Garden Center where Heritage Gardeners not only meet but create their own landscapes outside the vintage address in the Briscoe Gardens.

To volunteer a home address for the tour or to get more information on being a vendor, contact the Gardeners through their website at www.heritagegardener.org, Facebook or at 281-992-4438.

The juried Flower Show will also take place at the Garden Center.

Entries of flower designs allow participants to utilize artistic principles in creative endeavors. The horticulture entries, which are displayed inside the Garden Center, provide education through living exhibits.

State flower show judges will be on site to judge the entries. Themes for the show will be determined and posted soon. The 2016 themes were Disney, Dr. Seuss and Beatrix Potter.

Tickets will go on sale for the tour and show in early April.

Heritage Gardeners hold monthly meetings and programs September through April on the first Thursday of every month at 9:30 a.m.

Marie Workman Garden Center and Briscoe Gardens are located at 112 West Spreading Oaks in Friendswood.
