Pets and their owners enjoyed Paws in the Park last year. Registration has begun for this year's event, to be held Saturday, March 25.

Pets and their owners enjoyed Paws in the Park last year. Registration has begun for this year’s event, to be held Saturday, March 25.

Dogs and their Pearland owners are gearing up for the 23rd annual Paws in the Park presented by Westside Veterinary Hospital and sponsored by the City’s Parks and Recreation Department. The event is Saturday, March 25, at Veterans Sports Complex with the H-E-B Pet & Owner Fun Run followed by the National Dock Diving competition.

Events will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Independence Park at 3919 Liberty Dr. and is open to all ages.

Admission and on-site parking are both free.

Each year this event begins with a Fun Run and this year’s races are 1K, 3K, and 5K. Participants can compete with or without four-legged friends.

Events that day include dock diving, demonstrations, pet exhibitors, food vendors, and free onsite parking. Race results will include an overall finish list and age group results.

For health and safety reasons, pets must remain on a leash throughout the events.

Veterans Sports Complex is located at 4141 Bailey Road.

Applications are also available in the Pearland Parks & Recreation Office, located at 4141 Bailey Road, Pearland, Texas 77584 during normal business hours.

Race results will include an overall finish list and age group results.

Free parking will take place at Turner Career and College High School at 4719 Bailey Road.
