Edward Earl Van Hoesen passed away on Sunday, March 5, 2017 at his home in Friendswood. Eddie was born in Wharton, Texas on April 15, 1946 to now deceased parents Elmer Byron and Margaret Cecil Van Hoesen. Eddie earned his Eagle Scout at the young age of 13 years. He attended Wharton County Junior College and graduated from Lamar Tech in Beaumont with a degree in electrical engineering. During his late teens and early twenties he played guitar with several rock and roll bands in the Wharton area and in Houston. Eddie served in the United States National Guard for six years. He worked in the space industry at NASA for Lockheed Martin for 47 years. During his life, Eddie worked with the Friendswood Wranglerettes and with several dance studios for 21 years, cutting and editing music and serving as their official photographer. They all called him Mr. V. – The Music Man. The Wranglerettes have given a dance scholarship in his name for the last 10 years.

Eddie is survived by his wife, Sandra; daughters, Johanna Smith of San Marcos and Laura Van Hoesen of New Braunfels; three special grandchildren, Larkin, Evan, and Hayden; sister-in-law, Norma Van Hoesen; niece, Dana Voigt; and numerous cousins.

The family offers special thanks to the managers and staff of Harbor Hospice of Houston, and to Eddie’s daughter, Laura, who stayed seven months assisting in his daily care, making it possible for him to remain with his family at home for the duration of his long illness.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, March 11, 2017 at Jeter Memorial Funeral Home, 311 North Friendswood Dr., Friendswood, TX 77546, (281) 992-7200.
