Leatha Mae Watson, 75, of Houston, TX passed away on Thursday, March 2nd, 2017. Leatha was born in Halifax City, VA on March 15, 1941 to parents Joseph Beverly Francisco and Maggie Cooke Francisco. She graduated from Dan River High School in Danville, VA before relocating to Texas. She was a descendant of Peter Francisco, a Revolutionary War hero in Virginia. Leatha was married to James Robert Watson, Jr. on April 25th, 2002. They were married for 15 years. Leatha owned and operated Elegant Remodeling and Design, Inc. in League City, TX. She was active in the Democratic Party. She had a great love of classical music & opera.

Leatha was preceded in death by her son, Joshua Francisco Watson.

Leatha is survived by her husband James Robert Watson Jr., her children Sterling Wynne Bennett, Jr of Austin, TX and Starlett Lea Gonzales of Nassau Bay, TX and her sisters, Janice Francisco Chapman of Seal Beach, CA and Edith McCoy Wetherington of Jacksonville, FL. Leatha also had three beautiful granddaughters, Jenna Bennett, Laura and Samantha Mangrum.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at 6:30 pm at the Jeter Memorial Funeral Home, 311 N. Friendswood Drive, Friendswood, TX 77546 (281) 992-7200, with Rev. Jerry Stark officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may made to the American Cancer Society at www.cancer.org.
