The Friendswood Lady Mustangs softball team got a 14-1 win in their third league game of the young season to post their first district win. They are now 1-2 in District 24-6A standings.
Friendswood exploded for 14 runs as 11 different Lady Mustangs collected at least one hit.
Savannah Hartman and Emily Jackson led the way with three hits each in the rout.
Hartman slapped a single, stole second, and scored on a single to left by Julianna Tinger for a 1-0 lead.
Hannah Carpenter followed with a one-out double to center that plated Tinger. Emily Jackson stroked a single to left and then the Clear Brook pitcher threw two wild pitches that allowed Carpenter and Jackson to score for a 4-0 advantage.
Friendswood added another run in the fourth frame when Elizabeth Higgins smashed a double to left. Pinch runner Grace Hahn moved to third on another wild pitch and then scored on a sacrifice fly by Celina Saenz.
The sixth inning broke the back of the Lady Wolverines as Friendswood sent 14 players to the plate with the first eight hitters reaching base as nine runs crossed the plate on seven hits.
The biggest hit in the inning was a Sophie Lawson grand slam. In her two at-bats in the sixth, Grace Hahn also had four RBIs, clearing the bases on a single and a run-scoring fielder’s choice.
Clear Brook scored their lone run in the bottom of the sixth on an RBI single by Haley Lisbony scoring Alexis Barton who had a lead-off single.
Hartman, Jackson, Hahn, and Raegan Jones all scored two runs for Friendswood.
Alex Samonski picked up the win in the circle, going all six innings, allowing six hits, one earned run, walking two and striking out five.
