Through the Garden Gate Spring Garden Tour and Spring Flower and Horticulture Show, “On the Wing,” will be hosted by the Friendswood Heritage Gardeners in April.
The spring tour will run Saturday and Sunday, April 29-30 from 1 to 5 p.m.
The tour begins on Saturday and Sunday at the Marie Workman Garden Center and Briscoe Gardens, 112 W. Spreading Oaks, located behind the Friendswood Public Library.
Activities include an Open House featuring a Flower and Horticulture Show, a plant sale, prize drawings, and vendors who will have unique garden art and accessories for purchase. The Garden Center opens at 9 a.m. both days and admission is free.
Several beautiful Friendswood gardens are selected each year to be featured on the tour.
Tickets are $10 pre-tour and $12 the day of the tour. Children 10 and under are free.
Advance tickets can be purchased from Club members and at the following establishments: Chamber of Commerce, The Cake Lady, Friendswood Frame and Gallery, La Casita Restaurant, Lary’s Florist, Two Friends Gifts, and Phoenix Cleaners.
Starting Friday, April 28-Sunday, April 30 there will be a juried small standard flower and horticulture show open house exhibit free to the public from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Workman Center.
Amateur gardeners are invited to exhibit in this show. Entries of flower designs allow participants to utilize artistic principles in creative endeavors. The horticulture entries which are displayed at the Workman Center provide education through living exhibits.
The show is a National Garden Clubs, Inc. Small Standard Flower Show judged by State flower show judges. Judging begins at 10 a.m. April 28.
Entry registration (no fee) must be confirmed by April 7. In Division I Horticulture show all plants must be fresh and grown by exhibitor. In Division II Design there are three classes represented by still life, creative or traditional design and creative design of designer’s choice to include the theme, “On the Wing.”
