Margaret Louise Huckaby Powell

Margaret Louise Huckaby Powell, 70, passed away on Saturday, March 11, 2017 in Webster. Margaret was born on February 14, 1947 in Bryan, TX to parents Marvin K. and Evelyn (Faulkner) Huckaby. She graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School in 1965 and Sam Houston State University in 1969 with a Bachelor of Science in Education. She taught elementary school for a short time in Flatonia, TX. Margaret married the love of her life, James David Powell, on December 27, 1970. Upon moving to Pearland, she worked as the Administrative Assistant to the Vice President of Public Affairs of Baylor College of Medicine for 38 years. She was a member of Trinity Church in Pearland, TX for 25 years, where she served Jesus faithfully in many ways including teaching at the children’s church. Her favorite hobbies were tending to her plants and gardening. She had and loved many dogs during her life. Her family meant the most to her and she created many memories for them to cherish.

Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, Marvin and Evelyn Huckaby.

She is survived by her loving husband, James Powell of Pearland; son, David Powell and wife Rachel of Pearland; sisters, Nancy McDonald and husband Wayne of Burleson and Virginia Huckaby of Brenham; brother, Ken Huckaby and wife Janice of Franklin; numerous nieces and nephews of whom she was very fond.

Friends are cordially invited to attend a visitation with the family at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, March 17, 2017 at Jeter Memorial Funeral Home Chapel, 311 N. Friendswood Dr., Friendswood, TX 77546, with the funeral service to follow at 11:00 A.M., with Reverend Chuck Hacic officiating.
