Manvel girls head coach Bryan Harris was named District 23-5A “Co-Coach of the Year” after his Lady Mavericks captured the 23-5A championship with a perfect 16-0 record for the 2016-17 basketball season.
Harris shared the honor with Willowridge head coach Tiffany Collins.
The 25-10 Lady Mavs collected playoff victories over Houston Sharpstown and Kingwood before falling to Beaumont Central in the region quarterfinals.
Manvel’s Mckenzie Green was named 23-5A “Most Valuable Player.” Green, who reached the 1,000-point career scoring plateau, was joined on the first team by fellow sophomore guard Joy Chanslor and sophomore guard Deja Williams, who was named 23-5A “Newcomer of the Year.”
Sophomore forward Anessa Dussette and senior forward Coretta Hopkins both made the second team for Manvel.
