No more dull walls at the curve on Broadway by The Sugared Pear Boutique in Pearland. The shop now displays a large mural with vibrant, splashy color.
It’s just what the Pearland boutique owners, Angelo and Carrie Giokas, wanted to boost the look of their shop.
“We wanted to capture the iconic looks of the mural trend that has swept Houston, Austin and nearby towns,” Giokas said.
After an initial conversation with Kelly Kronfeld of Pearland’s Art & Kustom Kreations, the Giokas knew they were in the right direction. Sketches followed and artist Chris Garcia worked to encompass everything Pearland and Texas represent.
The finished product covers the 64’ x 10’ wall on the Pearland building the couple owns at 3532 Broadway.
The Giokas are residents of Pearland. Carrie grew up in Pearland and graduated from Pearland High School. Her husband, Angelo, is from Sugar Land. In 2006 they rented the building and named it for their two hometowns. In 2016 they bought the building.
The Sugared Pear features children’s, adult and plus sizes in fashionable clothing. They also carry jewelry, handbags, accessories, home décor and gift items.
“Our goal is to provide trendy, chic fashions at affordable prices, while exceeding expectations with quality service. We are a shopper’s boutique destination when they want to find something unique and special,” Giokas said.
The mural was a way to offer an outside view of public art.
“We wanted something that would bring attention and really define our location here on the curve of a busy street. It brings life to a boring ugly wall,” Giokas said.
The Sugared Pear Boutique is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays.
