Youth Sports Day Parade to open season March 25

Youth sports’ are about to begin and to officially open the season the Youth Sports Day Parade is set for Saturday, March 25 at approximately 8:50 a.m. The parade will begin at FM 518 at Skyview Terrace and end on FM 2351 at Stadium Lane.

Following the parade, Girls Softball members and Little League Baseball players will each have their ceremonial first pitches at Renwick Park. This will take place at approximately 9:45 a.m.

Awards will also be presented to winners of the judged parade floats.

Uniformed officers will be at major intersections to direct traffic. Pedestrians are urged to exercise caution near the roadways.

Some major roads will be temporarily closed in Friendswood on Saturday morning, March 25 for the Youth Sports Day Parade.

The City of Friendswood has determined traffic relocation during parade.
Beginning at 8:50 a.m., northbound traffic on FM 518 will be diverted at East Shadowbend, to Morningside Drive, to Pecan Drive and then FM 2351, rejoining FM 518 northbound at FM 2351. Southbound traffic on FM 518 will be diverted east or west at FM 2351. Westbound drivers on FM 2351 should go to Sunset Drive, to FM 528, and left to FM 518. Eastbound drivers on FM 2351 should go to Blackhawk, to FM 528, and right on FM 518.

As the parade passes, sections of FM 518 will be opened to traffic.

Just before the parade reaches FM 2351, FM 2351 will be closed to traffic from FM 518 to Stadium Lane. Traffic going east on FM 2351 will take Sunset Drive to FM 528, then rejoin FM 518. Westbound traffic will be momentarily stopped, then follow the parade until the last parade unit is on Stadium Lane.
