Jarryd Austin Morton, 24, (affectionately called Jare-Bear), passed away early Sunday morning, March 19, 2017. Jarryd was born on February 7, 1993, at Bayshore Hospital in Pasadena, Texas. The firstborn of his parents, Kevin Morton and Lisa Aaser, he is survived by them both, as well as his stepmother Kathy Morton, stepfather Dennis Cox and siblings: youngest brother, Jacob Morton, Ashley, James, and Katlyn Van Matre, and Dylan Cox. He also sadly leaves behind his two precious children, Shia and Brylee. He is survived by his grandmothers Martha Aaser and Joan Blake, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and countless friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, George and Mary C. (Sue) Morton, and grandfathers, Lou Aaser and Tommy Blake.

Jarryd spent his early years in Pasadena and moved to Friendswood at age ten. As a boy, Jarryd was a self-proclaimed “dirt-bike” kid—he loved extreme sports, lived for the thrill, and enjoyed a good adrenaline rush. Always outdoing his brothers (not without healthy rivalry) with a crazier or more intense trick on the trampoline, diving board, or random rockface, Jarryd loved life and especially the water. He could barefoot ski by age five, drive a jet-ski by age seven, and wakeboard by age eight. Most recently, he enjoyed taking the boat out every sunny, summer day on Clear Lake. Preferring to work with his hands, Jarryd engaged in various trades: car mechanics, boat and jet ski repair, and the like. You could usually find him under the hood tinkering with what he considered a misguided, mid-life-crisis auto purchase his dad would routinely make. Friendship was important to Jarryd. He was generous, open, and high-spirited toward his friends. Always up for a good time, Jarryd was always ready to kick back, relax, and just chill. He loved a good craft beer (especially from Nobi Public House), inviting his buddies out on the town, and just being himself. We will absolutely miss Jarryd’s laisse-faire, carefree, mellow, and just plain all-around “chill” approach to life. We love you.

Friends are cordially invited to the visitation with the family on Thursday, March 23, 2017 from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., with the rosary to begin at 7:00 P.M. at the Mary Queen Catholic Church, 606 Cedarwood Dr., Friendswood, TX 77546 with Deacon Chuch Turner officiating.
