I am David O’Farrell, and I would appreciate your vote for Friendswood City Council Position 5 in the May city election.
I have been in Friendswood all my life and have watched this city grow to the active, growing urban community it is today. I am a Friendswood High School graduate with a Bachelors Degree in Business and a Masters Degree in Theology. My wife Lori and I have three children, Chris, Ryan and Katie.
I have worked 33 years in my family’s business, O’Farrell Realty. The business just celebrated its 60th year in Friendswood, making it the longest working family business in town.
I am active in my community. I have city government experience, serving for the past 10 years on the Planning and Zoning Commission. I am a member of the local Rotary Club and a board member on the Friends of Downtown Friendswood Association (FDFA).
As a proud supporter and financial contributor, I have joined others in the community to bring about the completion of Lake Friendswood Park, the Friendswood Dog Park (to be completed by 2018) and Friendswood’s Frisbee Golf Park.
Participation with community organizations such as the Senior Citizens Center, the Historical Society, Spring Sparkle, Parks and Recreation and the Library Board have provided insights for what is needed and what can be done in our town.
As a member on Planning and Zoning, I have consistently put forth policies to ensure that non-desirable development is avoided, without putting needless obstacles in the way of thoughtful development.
My goals are built on the values of our city’s past with a focus on the future, doing what is right for our community and being a voice for the people of Friendswood. Continued efforts must be made to keep Friendswood growing and thriving yet never losing sight of where we came from and who we are.
My long-term knowledge and involvement in this community have prepared me to work hard for the City as a member of the City Council Position 5.
