The Manvel Lady Mavericks won one and lost one last week.
Manvel hosted the Ball High Lady Tors and pulled out an 8-3 win.
Ball High took an early 2-0 lead in the top of the first, but Manvel took the lead for good with three runs for a 3-2 lead.
The Lady Mavs opened up the game with four more runs in their half of the second to stretch the lead to 7-2.
Manvel scored two runs on a triple by Alexis Uresti and a single by Cecily Macias in the first inning and then they got a double by Ariyon Woodard, a single by Brianna Garcia, and single by Uresti in the second inning.
The Mavs collected 11 hits as Uresti, Woodard, and Garcia each collected multiple hits. Uresti went 3-for-4 with three RBIs.
Manvel score their final run in the fourth while Ball High scored on in the seventh for the 8-3 final score.
Macias picked up the win in the pitching circle as she allowed four hits, two runs, three strikeouts, and five walks in four innings. Alayna Pippin pitched three innings in relief and gave up three hits, one run, struck out two, and issued one walk.
Texas City 12 – Manvel 7
The Texas City Lady Stings scored all their runs in the first four innings and then had to hang on to pull out a 12-7 win over Manvel.
The Lady Stings built a 10-0 lead after three frames before Manvel finally got on the scoreboard with a pair of runs to cut the lead to 10-2, but Texas City got the two runs back in their half to the fourth for a 12-2 advantage.
Manvel scored four runs in the fifth to cut the lead in half 12-6 and then added one more in the sixth making the score 12-7, but the Lady Mavs couldn’t get any closer.
Brianna Garcia was 1-for-4 with two runs scored. Alexis Uresti was 3-for-4 with two runs scored. Cecily Macias was 2-for-2 with two runs scored and two RBIs. Alyssa Villanueva was 2-for-4 with two runs scored and one RBI.
Alayna Pippin took the loss in the pitching circle.
