The Dawson Diamonds are known for their football game halftime performances. The group, in its 10th year, is celebrating the anniversary with their Spring Show Diamond Dazzle May 5-6.

The Dawson High School Diamonds Dance Team invites the community to their 10th birthday party celebration and spring show, Diamond Dazzle, on Friday, May 5 and Saturday, May 6 at 7 p.m. in the Dawson High School auditorium, located at 2050 Cullen Boulevard in Pearland.

The show features performances from the nationally accredited Diamond Dancers, the Dawson dance classes, and Dawson Cheer.

The theme for the show this year is It’s Our Party as the group celebrates its tenth anniversary.

The Diamond Dancers and Dawson Dance Department are led by director Leslie Grant and assistant director Megan Railey. Under their direction, the Diamonds hold multiple Grand Champion titles from this year’s competitions.

“Most people don’t know we compete in the spring; they may think we only dance during the half-time at football games in the fall. So our annual Dazzle show is a great time to let everyone know what we’re about and what we really shine at: performing,” Grant said.

This year’s team consists of 33 girls who execute a wide range of dances, from tap to jazz to kick to hip hop.

In addition to the dancing aspect of the show, Spring Show is also a goodbye for the seniors. For the 13 seniors on Diamonds, this will be the last time they perform with the team.

“After so many hours of practice and hard work, it’s obvious that these girls have a strong dynamic with each other. Not only do the Diamonds enjoy being part of a sisterhood, they pride themselves on being dedicated members, as well as being sharp and superior dancers. Each dance is practiced and performed to perfection,” Grant said.

Tickets for both days are $10 for general seating and $12 for premium seating and may be purchased at the door or online at https://ticketracker.com/store/events/188.

Refreshments will also be sold at the Spring Show.

All proceeds benefit the Dawson Diamonds Dance Team.
