Library’s Great Decisions group to begin May 4

Friendswood Library’s new session of Great Decisions discussion group starts Thursday, May 4.

Great Decisions is America’s largest discussion program on world affairs.

Participants read the materials provided and meet to discuss the most critical global issues facing America today. The program provides background information and policy options for the eight most critical issues facing America each year and serves as the focal text for discussion groups across the country.

Eight discussion meetings will be held on Thursday afternoons at the library from 2 – 4 p.m. from May 4 to June 22.

Discussion Program briefing books will be provided to registrants.

The discussion group is open to all but registration is required. There are seven positions remaining in the group. Anyone interested should register immediately.

Topics by date include the following: May 4: The Future of Europe; May 11: Trade and Politics; May 18: Conflict in the South China Seas; May 25: Saudi Arabia in Transition; June 1: U.S. Foreign Policy and Petroleum; and June 8: Latin America’s Political Pendulum.
