Additional restaurants in the Pearland area are taking an active part in helping the Pearland Police Officers Association (PPOA) raise funds to build an Officers Memorial Garden to memorialize officers who have died in the line of duty.
The PPOA are asking local restaurants to assist with fundraising efforts by donating a portion of their sales on May 16, from 4 to 9 p.m.
This date coincides with the observance of National Police Week which runs May 14-20 this year.
So far, the following restaurants are taking part in the plan: Gringos, Jimmy Changa’s, Casa Ole, Chick Fil-A, Central Texas BBQ, Grazia Italian Kitchen, Stadia Sports Grill, Floyd’s Cajun Seafood, Firehouse Subs, The Drink Station, Atchafalaya Crawfish and Cajun Specialties, and Buffalo Wild Wings.
The memorial will be placed on the grounds of the Pearland Police Department.
Designed by local contractor Todd Whistler, President of Architrave Construction & Design, Inc, the memorial will include three lighted walls with the Police Department’s seal and the memorial name. It will also feature plaques dedicated to each of Pearland’s three officers who have died in the line of duty.
The memorial is in the final stages of planning and approval and construction will begin as soon as funds are available.
Along with the restaurants giving a portion of their profits on May 16, the Police Association is also accepting cash donations or donated professional construction services. All of the proceeds will go towards building the memorial and are tax deductible.
