The third annual Chalk Walk will be held at the Captain’s Corner on May 6, from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. This is a citywide event supporting public art for the City of Friendswood.

Artists of all ages, as well as sponsors from businesses, clubs and individuals have been signing up to do their own original art on 3’x3’ sidewalk squares in front of participating stores. Chalk squares cost $100.

Some businesses have chosen to sponsor a local artist to complete the creation. Sponsoring an artist includes a sponsor signature.

Approximately 42 squares have already been purchased. Those who purchased one or more squares include Emily Kopetz, MP&T’s (Gupta), Jodi Jung, Nelson Psychiatry, Texas Gulf Coast Medical Group, Eliza Hoffman, Macie Simeak, Danita Logan, Suzanne Hughes, Allied Hydromulch, Jan Nemitz, The Funky Monkey, Phoenix Cleaners, Chris Prihoda, and Sally Branson Campaign.

Also purchasing one or more squares include Rebecca Hillenburg, Friends of Downtown Friendswood Association (FDFA), Raymond James, Mark Griffon, Nena’s Boutique, Diane Fifer, the Ford Family, Luis Briones, Tiffany Henry, Shanna Kirkpatrick, Stan Galanski, HomeTown Bank of Friendswood, Raley, Steven and Heather Newsstead, Prince Properties, TCBY (Richard Soler), Sundance Yoga (Avril), Joanna Krancher, J. Brown Construction, Brendan Mehrens, and Captain’s Corner.

“We are endeavoring to promote the importance of the arts in our wonderful city,” area artist Betsy Miller said.
