Lady Mavs blanked by Dayton 12-0

The Dayton Lady Broncos came to Manvel focused on winning the Class 5A Region III area contest and they did it with focus and power 12-0 to eliminate the Lady Mavericks from the softball playoffs.

Dayton scored in each of the five innings before the 10-run mercy rule went into effect.

The Lady Broncos score one run in the first, one in the second, four in the third, three in the fourth and three more in the fifth for a 12-0 lead.

Manvel only managed one hit in the game and that was a single by Alayna Pippin.

Freshman pitcher Sydney Macias took the pitching circle for the Lady Mavs to start the game. She went three innings and gave up seven hits, six runs, struck out none, and walked one.

Pippin pitched 1 2/3 innings as she allowed two hits, four runs and one walk.

Brittany Hood pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up three hits and two runs.

The Lady Broncos came into the game with only one senior on the roster as the team is young and dominated by freshman and sophomores which is going to make Dayton an area 5A power for the next two or three years.

Dayton collected 12 runs on 12 hits including four doubles for the 12-0 shutout.

Junior pitcher Brooke Austin got the one-hit shut out victory for Dayton.
