Phase II is expected to begin soon on the renovation of the remaining half of the Liberty Drive City Hall Annex which will accommodate the Finance Department.
Phase I of the City Hall Complex Renovation Project has been completed, with the city’s Community Development (planning and permitting) staff officially moving into their new space on April 17.
In the first phase of renovation, a new Community Development space was created for better public access and more interaction with customers. New workstations, furniture, windows, carpeting and paint were also part of the project.
During construction of Phase II, public access to Community Development in the Annex is limited to the north entrance, the City Hall side of the Annex.
Once Phase II is complete for the Finance Department, completing the Annex work, then City Hall itself will have renovations.
There will be a number of interim office moves for that phase, including The City Council Chambers where public meetings are held as well as a number of interim offices will move. Projected to begin in July, City Council, Planning and Zoning, and other meetings will be conducted at the Public Safety Building on Cullen Boulevard.
Since City Hall and the adjacent building are both more than 30 years old, electrical, mechanical and plumbing systems must be addressed along with upgrades for facility security. City officials report that the renovations will provide a more efficient modern system that will provide significant operational savings.
Check www.pearlandtx.gov for further updates. Pearland residents will continue to be notified in advance of any closures that will occur.
The City Hall Complex Renovation Project is part of the 2015-2019 Capital Improvement Program intended to renovate the City Hall and Community Center buildings collectively referred to as the City Hall Complex.
