Friendswood Library to host variety in June

Hurricane Preparedness will be held June 1 from 10 – 11 a.m. and June 5 at 6:30 p.m. A City of Friendswood Office of Emergency Management representative will share information on the city’s hurricane plan, discuss what citizens can do before and after a hurricane to weather the storm and answer audience questions.

Summer Reading Club will kick off its program June 3 from 10:30 a.m. to noon at the library. For more information, go to the library website at

To celebrate National Garden Week, a special presentation on Gardening for Butterflies will be given by master Gardener Tish Reustle. Reustle has been a Master Gardener since 2008 and helped develop a Butterfly Garden at the Research and Education Garden at Carbide Park AgriLife Extension Center.

On Thursday, June 8 at 6:20 p.m., Friendswood Library Flicks presents “Unfaithfully Yours” starring Rex Harrison and Linda Darnell. Directed by Preston Sturges in 1948, this film is not rated and runs 1 hr 45 min. In 2008, director Quentin Tarantino placed the film at number 8 in his top 11 movies of all time.

The new book for the Library Book Club is “The Supremes at Earl’s All-You-Can-Eat” by Edward Kelsey. The club will meet June 13 at 7 p.m. Refreshments will be provided.

Workforce Solutions Free Job Search Skills Seminars will be held beginning June 13 and ending July 25 from 1 – 3 p.m.

Free ESL Conversation Classes will be given June 13 from 7 – 8 p.m. There is no registration and it is open to the public. Classes will continue weekly until the last class July 11.
