Frances Loveta Love was called home to walk on the streets paved in gold on May 26, 2017.
Loveta was born on August 29, 1927 in Wheeler, Texas to Clyde and Alice Newsom. She graduated Tulia High School and attended West Texas State University. Loveta married Dwane Dale Love on July 22, 1945. They lived in Tulia, Texas until 1949 and moved to Prior, Oklahoma. Then in 1951 they moved back to Tulia and lived there until retirement. They raised their two sons, Jim and Lynn in Tulia. Loveta worked at Rockwell Brothers Lumber Company and First National Bank in Tulia and then at Marse and Sons in Plainview. She and Dwane owned Farmers Grain Company and farmed 20 sections of land in Tulia. Upon retirement they moved to Canyon, Texas where Loveta began a new career that would become her passion. “Mrs. Love” served in the church nursery and taught at In His Hands, at First United Methodist Church. She found joy in developing young minds, encouraging parents and young teachers in their journey. She spent the last years of her life in Friendswood, Texas, where she enjoyed her gardening and serving at Friendswood Methodist services for The Gathering Place and Joyful Hearts.
Loveta’s name says it all, Love-ta! “Love” describes her perfectly! She had a servant’s heart and found pleasure in making sure everyone around her was well taken of. If you visited her you would be served a good home cooked meal and the best pies you would have ever eaten. And everyone knows that her homemade pralines were the best around. She loved fashion and was always dressed perfectly from head to toe and would have never left her home without earrings. She was a fashionista! She loved as Christ loves, she spoke the truth, and she was sure to keep you on your toes!
Grandkids and their friends knew her as Mimi or Grandmom. She was at every sporting event and at every award, recital or graduation event. She loved being involved in her grandkids lives.
Loveta never stopped learning, at 84 she learned to text, use “Facebook”, “the internet”, and even “Pinterest”. She Studied her Bible daily and shared the lessons she learned at every opportunity. Loveta was a daughter, a sister, a wife, a mother, a grandmother, a great grandmother and a friend to many who will miss her love and humor dearly.
