Design work is underway for the additional trail system for Shadow Creek Ranch Trail. The $1.9 million project will have a 10 foot wide hike and bike trail constructed along the southern bank of Clear Creek starting at the end of the current Nature Trail east of Kingsley Drive and extending 4,700 feet east.

The new extension will connect to the existing 10 foot sidewalk east of Kirby Drive at the bridge over Clear Creek.

With bike facilities, and shaded seating areas, the new trail will be approximately 2.34 miles, extending to the shopping center at SH 288 at Kingsley.

The project is part of the Parks & Recreation Master Plan that was adopted by City Council in 2005 and in 2015, that listed hike and bike trails as the number one priority for Pearland. This feeling was continually noted in the biannual citizen surveys about the city.

The Shadow Creek Ranch Trail project will include 80 percent federal funds reimbursed through TXDOT with a 20 percent local City of Pearland funding match.

Construction bids are projected to be sent out in July 2018 with construction beginning in October 2018. In August 2017 approximately 60 percent of the design plans must be submitted to TXDOT for approval.
