In Friendswood, the 122nd Fourth of July event will center around this year’s theme “Salute to America, Texas Style.”
The annual parade starts the celebration at 10 a.m. on Friendswood Drive (FM 518) at Heritage Drive.
The parade concludes at Stevenson Park where there will be rides, games, food booths, live entertainment and fun for the entire family until approximately 3:30 p.m.
In celebration of the holiday, both Historical Museums in Friendswood will be open after the parade from noon to 2 p.m. for tours. Visit the Brown Museum on Skyview Terrace right across from the Mural or the Brown Museum on Spreading Oaks right behind the Quaker Church.
The new Friendswood Schools Museum will also be open at 10 a.m. Located at the former Friendswood Junior High, now The Annex facing Spreading Oaks, the museum looks back at public school from 1939 until the present.
July 4th evening events at Centennial Park begin at 7:30 p.m. No public parking will be available at Centennial Park. Instead, a shuttle service will be provided from Friendswood High School and Clear Brook High School. Shuttles will run to Centennial Park from 6:30 p.m. to 8:45 p.m. Friendswood police officers will provide security services at the shuttle locations.
The Friendswood Chamber of Commerce will announce the winner of a new truck during the evening event.
