Adults who can spell well have a new opportunity to put this talent to use. The Friendswood Public Library is hosting its second Adult Spelling Bee at 12 p.m. Aug. 19, in the Community Room inside the library.

The event is free and the public is invited to watch the event.

Trophies for first, second and third places will be given. Participation is encouraged and there is no limit to the number of spellers for the bee.

The spelling bee is one with no eliminations. Winners are determined by a point system for all correctly spelled words.

The event is open to all adults ages 18 and up.

Anyone one interested can pick up a spelling word list from Librarian Matt Riley at the reference desk.

“Last year the Adult Spelling Bee was so much fun. If anyone misspells a word, they still get to keep participating and at the end, the speller with the most points wins,” Riley said. “We want to encourage all good spellers to come join us and have a great time.”

Contact the reference desk to register and pick up practice words. Call 281-482-7135 for more information.
