The Green Event Center just west of Alvin on FM 528 (Parkwood Ave.) invites kids to a special summer camp to become Junior Chefs and master: basic kitchen skills, fundamentals of cooking, sanitation, safety, menu planning, dining room manners and as an additional bonus to become experts able to prepare a family meal.
Camp is led by acclaimed “Chef Ann” who is well respected in her field and a noted cookbook author as well. She makes life both fun and tasty and her sense of adventure will inspire junior chefs to enjoy themselves while they are learning.
Three different sessions will be held on Monday, July 31 with All American cooking; Tuesday, Aug. 1 kids will learn to prepare a Mexican Fiesta; and Wednesday, Aug. 2 kids will learn to prepare a family Luau.
Classes will run from 10:30 a.m. til 1 p.m. and the three day series will cost $150 per child plus tax or $65 for a single day class.
The only requirements are to wear closed toe shoes, have hair tied back and a happy face.
The camp is held at the Green Event Center located at 2000 W. Parkwood in Friendswood. From Alvin, go west on FM 528 past Windsong Intermediate. On the left see the Green Event Center with modern white wind turbines and a red painted cow on the roof. The building itself offers a great side lesson in green building with a sod roof, copper fixtures, native plantings, and other interesting features.
