Margaret “Peggy” DiCenzo, 69, of Friendswood, Texas passed away Friday, July 21, 2017. She was born January 22, 1948 in Kansas City, Missouri to William and Marjorie Cooney.

Peggy grew up in Buffalo, New York and attended Holy Family School for grade school where she met the love of her life, Ralph DiCenzo. Peggy attended Mount Mercy Academy (all-girls school) and Ralph attended Bishop Timon High School (all-boys school), so they spent time together at the weekly high school dances. After high school, Peggy attended Trocaire College and received her Nursing Degree. Peggy and Ralph were married November 23, 1968 in Buffalo, New York surrounded by family and friends.

After graduating from Trocaire College, Peggy worked as a Registered Nurse on the surgical floor of Mercy Hospital in Buffalo, New York. When Ralph’s job moved the family to St. Louis, Missouri, Peggy worked as a nurse in an assisted living facility. In 1976, the family moved to Friendswood, Texas and she has lived there ever since. Peggy worked for over 30 years for optometrists Dr. Jack Bridwell and Dr. Floyd Williams.

Peggy was a devoted and loving mother. She was very proud of her family and loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. Peggy dedicated her life to her family, working as an optician as well as taking care of the family and home. She was an incredible role model for her daughters and demonstrated great love, support, caring and compassion. She always went above and beyond to make sure her family was safe, happy, and healthy – always putting others first.

Her family always enjoyed her cooking – homemade Italian soup, homemade bread, meatballs and chicken sinker soup. Peggy loved shopping, playing cards, gardening, visits to the casino, and visiting her family in Buffalo, New York. Peggy always shared the wonderful memories she had of spending time with her grandmother, and she always strived to make her grandchildren feel as special and cherished as her grandmother made her feel.

Peggy was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph DiCenzo and father, William Cooney.

She is survived by her mother, Marjorie Cooney; her daughters: Lisa Nixon and husband Troy and Margie Beville and husband Larry; grandchildren Dana and Ryan Nixon and Lauren and Lindsay Beville; her sisters Pat Barnes and Paulette Harrop; many other relatives and cherished friends, and her newly adopted puppy, Rose Bud.
