Free Family Fun Day set for Aug. 5

Planning is underway for the 2nd annual KidsRStrong2 Family Fun Day, which is set to take place on Aug. 5 at Victory Camp in Alvin. The free event targets children and youth dealing with any life-threatening medical condition, such as pediatric cancer, along with their family and close friends.

The event is an opportunity for families to strengthen their family bond, and develop long-lasting positive memories away from the confines of the hospital walls.

Families interested in attending should register online in advance by visiting Those interested in volunteering or sponsoring a family should also visit the same site.

The day will consist of an array of indoor and outdoor activities such as zip lining, bumper boats, go-carts, swimming, live music, and much more. Breakfast and lunch will be provided, thanks to community supporters and sponsors. Whataburger has sponsored the event and will provide breakfast. Other activities and giveaways are being made possible thanks to sponsorships by Raising Canes, The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, and Albert “AJ” Johnson – Farmers Insurance; as well as KidsRStrong2 Family Fun Day supporters: Nothing Bundt Cakes, Kona Ice, Kroger, Dr. Danielle K. Reed of Smile Avenue Dental, and Schlitterbahn Waterparks of Galveston.

Throughout the day there will also be opportunities for community members to give blood in an effort to save lives. In addition the Alvin ISD Book Bus will be available for families to enjoy.
