The chatter started in Alvin over the weekend when someone posted on Facebook a photo of the Nolan Ryan bronze that has long stood in front of the City Hall. All that remained was the right foot. Was it a daring heist? Did a vehicle crash into the bronze and destroy it?
Calls went around town and one citizen decided to call the mayor. He didn’t know anything about it either, so he made several calls.
Mayor Paul Horn got the answer and quickly the City of Alvin posted the following on its Facebook page. “The Nolan Ryan statue in front of City Hall is safe and sound. City crews took it in for some repairs and will hopefully be put back in place rather quickly.”
Ruth and Nolan Ryan were immediately informed that Nolan was safe and sound, minus one rusty foot, and that all is well in his home town of Alvin, Texas.
