Shadow Creek High School in Pearland was the site for the Alvin ISD three day New Teacher Induction programming designed to give all new teachers the information they need to start the 2017-18 school year.
The theme of the event was “Share your story, create your legacy.” Day one focused on welcoming, orienting and then dividing teachers into subgroups to learn more about classroom management, technology, and advanced strategies.
Three city mayors Paul Horn, Alvin; Debra Davison, Manvel; and Tom Reid, Pearland were on hand to help welcome new teachers.
According to Mayor Davison, “One of the fun and exciting parts of serving as mayor of Manvel is to participate in events like this. It was a joy to see the fresh new faces that will welcome our students back to school and to see the energy level and excitement exhibited by our wonderful teachers and staff.”
Day two of induction training gave teachers more detailed exposure to various aspects of curriculum and instruction including fine arts, foreign language, and special education. Day three focused on campus specific training, introduction of teachers to their mentors and training on various computerized programs, lesson plans, document storage, attendance procedures, student folders, accommodations and other detailed training.
