Pearland staff present proposed budget of $280 million

The City of Pearland’s Fiscal Year 2017-18 Budget was presented at the first budget meeting Aug. 12 at the Public Safety Building. It was the first of several months of Council budget meetings, public hearings and workshops that will be held before City Council will adopt a budget in September.

In the first meeting, a multi-year plan, debt service fund, fee updates, water and sewer, internal service funds and CIP were discussed.

The proposed budget has more than $280 million in revenues and expenditures. The proposed budget can be viewed online at the city’s website and the page is updated throughout the budget process.

The next two discussion meetings about the budget will be Aug. 21 and 28. The first public hearing on budget and tax rate will be Sept. 5 with the second on Sept. 11.

The first reading of the budget and tax rate will take place Sept. 18 with the second reading to adopt Sept. 25.
