Robert “Bob” Adams, 87, from Alvin, TX passed away on August 12, 2017. Bob was born on June 29, 1930 in Waynesboro, PA to William G. and Lillian Adams. He graduated from Penn State with a degree in Chemistry and went to work for Sun Oil Company (Delaware) in 1952. He entered the service shortly thereafter and worked in Army Intelligence. After serving his country, he returned to work for Sun Oil. In 1969, he was transferred to Amoco Chemicals Chocolate Bayou Plant. He remained with Amoco until his retirement in 1992.

Bob actively served in the First United Methodist Church in Alvin, the Alvin Museum Society, American Legion, the Alvin Evening Lions Club and the Alvin Library League. He enjoyed spending time with family and stayed in contact with childhood, college, Army and workplace friends throughout his life.

Bob was preceded in death by his first wife, Joanne; brothers, Bill and Ken.

He is survived by his loving wife, Ruby; his children, Bobby Adams, Kim Hickman (Brian), Becky Llenos (Mike); his grandchildren Laura, Brian and Sarah Hickman; Ruby’s children, Charlie Marken (Nancy), Jimmy Marken (Kim), Donald Marken (Laurie) and Elizabeth Rombs (Jeff); numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and family members.

Friends are cordially invited to attend a memorial visitation with the family at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, August 22, 2017 at First United Methodist Church Alvin, 611 W. South Street, Alvin, TX 77511. A memorial service will follow at 11:00 A.M, with Rev. Mike Mayhugh officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to FUMC Alvin or any of the above organizations where he served.
