Caroline Lydia Abernathy Anderson, 85, of Houston, TX passed away on Monday, September 4, 2017 in the early morning. She was born January 17, 1932 to Charles Abernathy and Lydia M. Ruoff Abernathy in Santa Ana, CA. Caroline grew up singing in her church choir and loved the Lord. She met her husband, Werner Lee Anderson at YWCA, an event to honor the United States Marines Corp. They danced the night away and Lee swept Caroline off her feet. They married on August 9, 1952 surrounded by family and friends. After the war, they moved to Houston and had their two sons, Rodney and Mark and attended Evangelistic Temple where she sang in the choir. The family of 4 moved to Lake Charles and had their daughter, Paula, and attended the Assembly of God where she also sang in the choir. She loved to sing and worship the Lord.

The new family of 5 moved to San Antonio where she worked at an insurance agency that allowed her to be very active in her children’s sports and activities such as baseball games and twirling competitions. They were one of the founding families of the Trinity Assembly of God then later became Cornerstone Church with Pastor John Hagee. Some years later, they moved back to Houston where Caroline served as Visiting Angels taking care of the elderly. She had a passion to help others who could not help themselves.

The family that survives her knows her passion and spirit well as she always showed them the greatest amount of love anybody could give. She was compassionate, heartfelt, and always wanted the best for anyone, even strangers she saw on the street. You could always see her in the grocery store talking to anybody and everybody and spreading her love and warmth like wildfire. Caroline was also a beautiful seamstress. She made outfits for her daughter for twirling competitions and made many dresses for family and friends. On a Sunday, her family could sit with her and watch her sew and knit beautiful blankets and quilts for her grandchildren whom she loved and cared for with a deep passion. Moreover, she just loved to be of service to anyone whether that meant making clothes, delivering food to people in need, making beautiful dinners for her family, or serving the elderly as a point of light. We are all blessed to have known Caroline, a beautiful soul with a caring spirit whom has left the world a much happier place.

Caroline was preceded in death by her mother and father, Charles and Lydia Abernathy, and grandson, Timothy Anderson.

She is survived by the father of her children Lee Anderson, her son, Rodney Anderson and wife, Amy, son, Mark Anderson and wife, Cathy, daughter, Paula Anderson, sister Ruby Grebel and husband Wayne, grandchildren, Missy Maynor and husband, Gary, Megan Galla and husband, Zac, Bryan Goodwin and wife Sheryl, Lauren Goodwin, Taylor Anderson, Rodney Anderson, Leah Kozel and husband, Andrew, Jordan Anderson and wife, Marie and six Great-Grandchildren.

“Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. You know the way to the place where I am going.” John 14: 1- 4
