Chamber relocates, prepares for variety of events

The Friendswood Chamber of Commerce has a variety of activities planned this month and in October.

Even though the Chamber office received approximately 20 inches of water from Hurricane Harvey, the office staff in their new location at Stanfield Realty at 807 South Friendswood Drive across from Sonic Drive In is still working to have the activities occur and be successful.

On Sept. 19, from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., the Chamber is hosting its 10th Annual Barbecue Fundraiser.

Prepared by Joe’s Bar B Q, the fundraiser offers barbecue sandwiches with drive through, delivery or pickup. Cost is $7 and includes a chopped beef sandwich, chips, cookie and drink.

Proceeds benefit the annual golf tournament.

On Oct. 5, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., the Chamber is hosting their general luncheon at The Green Event Center in Friendswood at 2000 W. Parkwood.

Guest speakers are State Senator Larry Taylor and State Representative Greg Bonnen.

Cost for the luncheon is $25 and spotlight tables to showcase businesses are available for $50.

Celebrate Community on Oct. 9 at the Chamber of Commerce’s Business Expo. This year the Chamber is partnering with Friendswood ISD. The Expo will be from 1 – 7 p.m. at Friendswood Junior High.

The 18th Annual Halloween in the Park will be Oct. 22 at Stevenson Park under the sponsorship of The Gerland Team of Keller Williams Realty. Booth space is available now. A special meeting for vendors will be held Oct. 19 at 4 p.m. at the Chamber office.

The Chamber is also preparing for the 2nd Annual Sportsman Raffle at 6 p.m. Nov. 7 at County Line Event Center at 18232 CR 127 in Pearland. The center is located near La Casita Restaurant.
