FISD Education Foundation raises $82,000 for relief fund

The Friendswood ISD Education Foundation is helping teachers but not for the annual grants at this time but in a new way from the past. They started a Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund and so far have collected over $82,000 for FISD personnel affected by the storm.

The relief fund request began after personnel returned to school and reports of damage from staff started being reported.

More than 109 employees were affected by the hurricane and 69 requested assistance.

The FISD Administration office tiered the groups affected based upon information provided to each campus principal.

“We have had amazing support along with letters of support from all over the world and monetary donations from all over the USA,” FEF Executive Director Paige Ridout said.

Ridout has fielded calls and taken donations from various parts of Texas, Iowa, and South Carolina so far.

“Bales Intermediate had a kindness map tracing states that have been involved,” Ridout said.

Donations are still requested and can be sent by going online to www.fisdfoundation.com or mail checks made at to the Friendswood ISD Education Foundation to 402 Laurel in Friendswood.

The FEF is a 501 (c)(3) corporation that was formed in 1999 in FISD.
